A lady who I later found out was Lithuanian said to me,
“You must not be Lithuanian.”
I said, “No, no, no! How could you tell?”
She said, “We think it’s bad luck to whistle on buses.”

(Whistling)

“Furthermore, I whistle to break the silence.”
And how violent the silence was
In which so many eyes will wander,
Like mine upon another,
Sauntered… and scurried away.

Big brown suckers they were.
They sucked me right in.

(Wolf-whistle)

The Lithuanian left, got off the bus,
And her open seat, right next to me, was only open for a fraction of a–
Hi there big brown eyes!
What lovely snow boots you have!

And that was Wednesday.

(Whistling)

Hello again! Fancy seeing you here!
Could this be your sister and her boyfriend with an eye infection?
Name. Name.

And that was a Monday.
You said, “See you Wednesday.”

I planned on it.

(Whistling)

Wednesday morning, I was looking smart.
I followed my heart right to the back of the bus,
Our usual spot,
But you weren’t there.

Hmm…

Either you’re sick today, or I must’ve walked right by you.
How embarrassing.
How embarrassing.

There you are.
Holy shit you look so good!
As far as I can tell from the back of your head...
I won’t waste any time.

"I’m sorry I missed you there-"
But before I could say another word
She took out a blue post-it note
And wrote her number on it.
She wrote her number on it.
And invited me to a party
On Saturday...
And it was Wednesday
And it was Wednesday.
It was Wednesday.

I got off the bus
And walked about two-hundred feet before
pulling out that blue post-it note
and texting her.
"I can't wait for Saturday
Let's meet for coffee or tea or something!"
She said "Okay.

Sat down and we exchanged wallets
Played a game and talked.
She seemed really interested in me
Which was something new, I felt.

And we went to the bank.
And we waited for a bus.
And we talked about cigarettes.
And that was about it
For Wednesday.
Track Name: Thursday Night
She was taking breaks from the room
With cigarettes.
I'd stand by her.
She would talk about many things
In the cold,
Smiling.

And all those little whispers
I know so much about
They were hollowed out
With every cloud of smoke.

That Thursday night,
It felt so right.
I can't believe in or conceive another way
I could've spent that Thursday night.

We came back in the house to find
Her sister'd gone to bed.
We were all alone.
We commandeered the couch, heads at opposite sides
She was high,
And somehow so was I.

I held onto her toes
She held onto my leg
She felt she had to say
We only met on Monday.

It was getting late, lion yawns,
She had her glasses on.
I couldn't take my eyes off her.
It was time to go but

One quick kiss.

She called me sweetheart.
I scurried like a mouse
Back to my house.
I couldn't fall asleep.
I've got a weak heart
For those who look at me
Like she did, like she did

That Thursday Night,
